Origin

At the 2966 Students' Science Fair, thirteen-year old genius Rond Vidar was awarded first prize by mayor-appointed judges, the Legion of Super-Heroes, for his time cube exhibit. His collapsible time cube can transport matter through the (non-physical) fourth dimension, to the past or the future. He demonstrated by sending a statue back to the age of the dinosaurs and viewing it on a time monitor.

Later, the Legionnaires needed to use the time cube to pursue the criminal Universo and Rond enlarged it to full size. He explained that it worked on the same principle as their time-bubbles, that is, gamma-vibro-radiation, faster than the speed of light, which cracks the time-barrier. Where his machine differed from theirs was that the time-bubble itself goes through time, while his merely projects its contents. For the objects to be returned to the cube, they must be in the same spot at which they arrived. Also, the maximum time a person could remain in the past or future was 24 hours. If they aren't at the appointed spot that they would be stranded in that time period.

After the five Legionnaires went back into five different eras, Rond used spare parts at the clubhouse to improve the time cube so that it could focus on and retrieve any traveler without them having to return to the arrival point. In this way, Rond saved the Legionnaires from Universo's deathtraps. As Universo was taken to jail, Rond revealed to the Legionnaires that the criminal was his father.

Super-Power

While the young genius possesses no overt super-power, he did inherit his father Universo's immunity to super-hypnosis (Adventure Comics No. 369 letter column).
